Dr. Maureen Davin
A Tribute to Mary McLeod Bethune
by Maureen Davin
Not to be ministered unto but to minister was the life that Mary led,
With God nothing is impossible were the words that she said.
Mary loved and she served and gave all that she had,
She brought a smile to the faces of those who were sad.
Mary trusted God could do miracles on a dump in Daytona Beach,
And that those little girls who were hopeless – God could surely reach.
To the less fortunate and disadvantaged Mary opened her door,
And started a school to give new life and hope to the poor.
I know countless lives have been touched because of Mary’s legacy and love,
And that she is now abiding in heaven with the Lord up above.
